Daily Tour Description: "Seven Springs and Lindos"

From the center of Rhodes new town we drive to Lindos.

Your journey to Lindos will take you along a beautiful 50 km / 35-mile drive along the east coast of the Island past picturesque little villages, with many glimpses of the sea on your left and distant views of the mountains on your right. You will also pass splendid landscapes of gnarled olive trees.

On the way you will visit Seven Springs, one of the most charming destinations on Rhodes. Seven Springs is a valley flowing with small clear springs and covered with enormous plane and pine trees. On the numerous footpaths through the woods, you can see wild geese, ducks and peacocks. This is a cool refreshing landscape, a real oasis, especially in the heat of high summer. You can follow a trail above ground or walk through an unusual tunnel to a small lake. The tunnel was constructed by the Italians in 1931 to collect the water of the springs. It is narrow and dark, and your feet will be in the running water - eerie but exciting. The lake provides a natural habitat for tortoises, crabs, eels, and a rare species of fish called gizani that lives exclusively in the fresh water creeks of Rhodes. The area is included in Natura 2000, a network of nature protection areas in the EU established under the 1992 Habitats Directive. (Stop Visit Photos)

The drive continues Southeast and from a vantage point along the coast, the impressive Acropolis of Lindos will come into view with the picturesque Village of Lindos situated below. (Stop Photos)

You continue to the south of Lindos, to St. Paul 's Bay, where the Apostle is said to have landed in the year 51 AD to preach Christianity to the Rhodians. From this point you can also view the cave where the film "The Guns of Navarone" starring Gregory Peck, Anthony Quinn and David Niven was filmed in 1961. (Stop Visit Photos)

Then we drive to the main square of Lindos. Here you have plenty of time to explore the village and climb up to the Acropolis of Lindos. If you don't want to climb the steps/paths to the top, you can ride the donkeys - the "Lindos Taxi"! (Stop Visit Photos)

Later your driver will meet you at the main square for the return trip to Rhodes town.

On the way back you drive along the coastal road to Faliraki and Kallithea.

Back to Rhodes city center.
