The big attraction of Rhodes are the beautiful beaches that surround the entire island. Entrance to all the beaches is free, but you will have to pay only if you rent a sun bed. Rhodes beaches are not only for sun worshippers but also for those who enjoy sports in the water, jet skiing, banana rides, ringos, paragliding, pedalos, bungee jumping, waterslides, sky-surfing. The Mediterranean sea is on the east coast and is much more pleasurable for swimming than the Aegean sea which is on the west side of Rhodes. The west side of Rhodes tends to have a stronger wind and is preferred by windsurfers.
Whilst in Lindos, at the south of the island you may decide to extend your time and enjoy the cool waters of the Mediterranean. The beach at Lindos is overlooked by the beautiful acropolis. The bay at Lindos offers a small sandy beach for sunbathing, beds and umbrellas are available, also there is a changing area and showers. (All the beaches of Rhodes offer these basic amenities). Even though Lindos beach is small water sports thrive and you can enjoy either jet-skiing or riding the banana boat.

Or maybe you would prefer, after visiting Lindos returning to Rhodes, to drive along the coastal road to Faliraki, which has the longest stretch of sandy beach on the island. In the height of season it is covered with beach umbrellas and sun-beds. Faliraki beach is a hive of activity ranging from the sedate pedalos to the more adventurous ringos and banana rides. Also for those who enjoy something different there is paragliding and sky-surfing or for those who really want something more take a bungee jump into the Med.

Rhodes like many European tourist resorts allows topless sunbathing on most of its beaches and even has one designated for nude sunbathing. Towards Ladiko, part of Faliraki beach, is a designated area for nudist sun-bathing. It is the only place on Rhodes where you may get an all over tan, entrance can only be gained by being naked yourself. Many beaches also fly a blue flag for cleanliness. The best time for enjoying Faliraki beach is from 15th June – 15th September, before and after these dates we suggest Lindos as a beach break.

Scuba Diving is a real pleasure in Rhodes because its underwater world is magnificent. Almost all the beaches of the island are perfect for this activity and two scuba diving clubs are available.
